We are so excited to celebrate with all of our favorite people. The day comes in two parts: a morning ceremony at Wailua Bay, then an afternoon sail down the Na Pali coast with dinner aboard. We will share the full timing and travel details closer to the day. For now, all we need is your reply.
Two venues, an hour apart, and a boat that leaves on schedule. Here's the plan, and this is the one section worth reading closely.
Come a few minutes early so we can start on time. The gazebo sits right on the bay. It is a short, simple ceremony, and there is shade.
Hugs, photos, and then everyone points their car south. Grab lunch on the way if you like. Kapa‘a and Līhu‘e both have plenty of options, and there is time.
Capt Andy’s asks everyone to check in 30 minutes before departure. Park in the free gravel lot between their office and the harbor. Please build in a buffer. This is the one part of the day that cannot flex.
We cast off and turn up the Na Pali coast, sailing the full accessible length of it as far as Miloli‘i. Pupus and the open bar come out on the way up. Dinner is prepared fresh aboard and served as we sail, and your entrée is whichever one you chose on the RSVP form.
The best hour of the day, from the best possible vantage point. It is about four and a half hours on the water all told, so we are back alongside at Port Allen in the early evening with your car waiting in the lot.
Your being there is the gift
Truly. Getting to Kaua‘i is no small thing, and anyone who makes that trip has already given us more than enough.
And if you cannot be there, please do not give it a second thought. Your good wishes are plenty, and we will find a way to celebrate with you once we are home.
We are not registered anywhere. If you would like to do something more, we have set up a honeymoon fund.
A card at the wedding works just as well.
Two venues, one island, and about an hour of road between them
Yes. One form covers your whole party, up to ten people including yourself. Each one needs their own name and dinner choice so the galley has an accurate count, so please add each person individually rather than writing “plus three”. The boat has a fixed number of seats, so we do need to know early.
Island formal, with one important caveat: you will be on a boat, and no footwear is worn aboard the Southern Star. Wear sandals or slip-ons you can step out of easily, and leave the stilettos at home. Bring a light jacket or a wrap for the sail back, because it gets genuinely cool and windy on the water once the sun drops.
You drive, and you should plan for about an hour. The gazebo is at Wailua on the east side; Port Allen Harbor is at ‘Ele‘ele on the south side, at 4353 Waialo Road. There is free public parking in the large gravel lot between the Capt Andy’s office and the harbor, first come first served. Check in 30 minutes before departure. Please give yourself a buffer. The boat leaves on schedule, and it cannot come back for anyone.
Dinner is four courses, prepared fresh aboard by Capt Andy’s and served as we sail, with a choice of three entrées: ginger shoyu grilled mahi, center cut filet mignon, or a grilled portobello mushroom. All three are gluten-free and dairy-free, and the portobello is vegetarian and vegan. You choose yours on the RSVP form, and there is a field for allergies right underneath. Please use it: the galley can plan around most things given notice.
Choose Your DinnerCome anyway, and take something beforehand. Capt Andy’s crew specifically recommend Bonine or Dramamine, taken before you board rather than once you feel it, which is too late to help. On the water, stay where you can see the horizon and keep to the fresh air. The Southern Star is a 65-foot catamaran, which is a great deal steadier than a small boat.
